Will Run for Cupcakes

Had to write a post!

Anyone who knows me well, knows of my somewhat unhealthy obsession with the Web site Etsy. For anyone who is not familiar with Etsy, it's very similar to eBay but consists of all things handcrafted/artisan (love).

Not a day of mine goes by without spending a little bit of time seeing what kinds of goodies I can come across on Etsy (in fact, some of you are getting Christmas presents that have come from Etsy - get excited, because they're awesome!)

Anyways, THIS is what I just discovered. WILL RUN FOR CUPCAKES! I have often said that I want to get a t-shirt custom made that says just that. Seriously great.

On another note, tonight was the first night of Steve's 10 km clinic at the Running Room. What a turnout! It was a fabulous first night and I am looking forward to helping out with the group and meeting new people!

Things I'm Excited About

In keeping with my summer plans, I've found a yoga class that I think is going to be a great fit with my needs.

1. Moksha Hot-Inspired Yoga

(for those of you not familiar, this is yoga in a heated environment!)

I hope to start in the first week of July. Thanks to my sis Julie for connecting me with this!

2. Cake Decorating!

I'm taking the Level 1 Wilton cake decorating class beginning on July 5!

Because really, I'm all about the sweets.

Maybe, once I complete a few levels, I'll be able to make a cake for one of our running parties that looks like this! Maybe?!

3. Summer Reading

This book and this book just arrived in my mailbox. Can't wait to read them both. All part of my quest for healthier eating! Thanks to Jill for the recommendations!

Winter Adventures!

We have been taking a break from running this week, but that doesn't mean we can't do other fun outdoor activities! Yesterday we went on a nighttime snowshoe adventure, and I loved it!

Thanks to Kendall, the very awesome operator of Newfoundland Bushman for a great time!

The weather was perfect, snow was falling gently and our headlamps lit up all of the snow-covered trees while we walked.

We walked near Stiles Cove, and even though we couldn't see the ocean in the dark, the North Atlantic surf was crashing just below us - a beautiful sound. We will have to come back in the summer (or at least the daylight) to explore the trail some more. The photos from the link above look beautiful, and this is a newly opened section of the East Coast Trail!

After our trek, we sat around a fire and enjoyed Strawberries and Chocolate fondue (YUM) and hot chocolate (YUM).

What will be our next NEW adventure???? Kendall has me thinking about winter camping.....

Creative Cross-Training

Have been feeling like an adventure lately, and came across this on Facebook this morning.

International Pillow Fight Day

Held in cities all over the world. How FUN is that??? Some groups then donate the pillows to charities - for example, the pillow fight in New York City is donating to animal shelters to make beds for the animals (melt my heart NYC!). Very jealous of my dear friend Jill, who is probably attending this event. Jill - photos!!!

This would make a super fun cross-training workout for the arms! Does anyone else feel like we could get this off the ground in NL....I do!

From the NYC site, I stumbled unto something else near and dear to my heart - passion for photography, and these VERY cool events held by Newmindspace in Toronto and New York. Everyone shows up with a camera at a predetermined time and place, and starts snapping, uploading photos to Flickr afterwards. So cool. Other events include blanket forts and bubble battles.

This week in Pictures!

On Friday, I worked at the local Olympic Torch relay community celebration.

My co-workers and I had a blast, despite the cold - we even got our picture(s) taken with the many fun backdrops.

You know, I really wish that I had at least submitted an application to become a torch bearer. Seeing it all, it would have been an amazing experience. Me running with the Olympic Flame...... Congrats to all of you out there who applied, and were accepted! What a great experience. I have seen some great pictures so far. Note to self: Don't ever let great potential experiences pass you by!!
